Sarpang police arrested a woman for allegedly murdering her stepmother. The incident took place at Sheychamthang on the 16th of this month at about 9:00 pm.

According to a source, the deceased was married to a man who had two daughters from his previous wife. One of the stepdaughters, a 32-year-old woman, allegedly hit the deceased with a brick and stabbed her twice in the chest with a kitchen knife following a quarrel.

She was brought dead to the hospital. Because of the suspicious injuries the deceased sustained, the hospital informed the police. Police arrested the suspect along with three other family members. The deceased was living with her husband, two stepdaughters and their husband. The stepdaughters were married to one man. The other family members were released on surety.

The case is under investigation.
