The Department of Adult and Higher Education (DAHE) of the Education Ministry recognised eight undergraduate scholarship students for their excellence in academics from universities in India and the US. Six of them are gold medalists, while one received a silver medal and another a bronze medal. The Department organised the felicitation programme today.
The secretary of the education ministry congratulated the students and conferred Tashi Lekdhar.
Phuntsho Wangmo and Pema Wangmo graduated from SRM University, India in 2020 with B.Sc in Medical Imaging Technology and B. Tech in Bio-Medical Engineering respectively. They were awarded Gold Medals for their academic excellence. Phuntsho is currently working as Radio Technology at the Gelegphu Central Regional Referral Hospital, and Pema is working at the JDWNRH, Thimphu as Bio-Medical Engineer.
Yeshey Lham graduated from the University of Texas, El Paso, USA in 2020 with a BBA in Economics. She is also a recipient of the Gold Medal for her academic excellence. She is currently working as an Associate Analyst at the Department of Investment with the DHI in Thimphu.
Tenzin Yangchen and Deki Tshomo graduated from Chitkara University, India with B.Sc in Culinary Arts and Bachelor in Hospitality Management respectively. They were awarded Gold Medals for their academic excellence. Tenzin is currently running a restaurant in the capital while Deki is pursuing PGDPA at the Royal Institute of Management.
Ugyen Pemo graduated from Sharda University, India in 2020 with BBA-Marketing. She was awarded Gold Medal for her outstanding performance in academics. She is currently pursuing PGDFM at the Royal Institute of Management. Similarly, Ugyen Dema and Tenzin Drakpa who also took the same course at the same university were awarded the Silver Medal and Bronze Medal respectively. Both are currently pursuing PGDFM at the Royal Institute of Management.
