A new bridge now connects Kachhen village to Tendruk Gewog in Samtse. It will benefit more than 80 households. The bridge was inaugurated yesterday.

Without a reliable bridge over the Bindu River, residents of Kachhen-Kuchhen village have been using a wooden bridge. The villagers constructed the bridge.

“The wooden bridge didn’t serve the purpose. It is a very difficult situation especially when someone gets sick. Access to market and transporting construction materials was also a big challenge,” said Yog Raj Limbu, the Tshogpa of Kachhen-Kuchhen chiwog under Tendruk Gewog in Samtse.

But now with the completion of the 90-feet long Bailey bridge, these problems are expected to be solved.

“Everyone here depends on agriculture. We grow cardamom, maize, vegetables and many more. Among many benefits, this bridge will now also help our farmers in selling their agricultural produce,” the Tshogpa added.

The government constructed the bridge worth Nu 9 M. It took only about two years to complete.
