The office of the attorney general has appealed to the high court regarding a murder case in Haa. Last month, the Haa district court sentenced a 33-year-old man from Punakha to 26 years and six months in prison for murdering his mother-in-law. It includes eighteen months prison term for not in a position to pay the compensation.
The convict was supposed to pay nearly Nu 500,000 as compensation. In October last year, the convict hit his mother-in-law on the head with a spade and killed her. Sources say they were not on good terms.
