The Prime Minister’s Office after more than a year handed back the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to the Labour Ministry. Since the programme is with the Ministry for only about two weeks, the Labour Minister said, there are no comprehensive plans for now. However, there will be major reforms in the programme.

Labour Minister, Ugyen Dorji said, ” Now this has also come as a new programme in the Ministry among other new programmes such as the Build Bhutan Project. All these new technical programmes should go side by side or align well with each other. Not just focusing on the construction sector as the Build Bhutan Project has done. The TVET programme will focus on skills and education development comprehensively.”

To develop and revamp the image of TVET in the country, a TVET Interim Office was established in March last year.

The government pursued TVET reforms since 2019.
