The 74-year-old man whose private video with a woman went viral on social media towards the end of last year is still under custody. He was arrested by Thimphu police last month.

A case against the man was registered by a woman, who was featured in one of the viral videos, during the lockdown. According to police, the man already has a similar ongoing case in the court against him, registered in May last year. He was booked for alleged sexual harassment and was on bail when the other video went viral on social media.

The Thimphu police is preparing to forward the current case to the court. He will be prosecuted for the alleged lewd and lascivious offence which is a petty misdemeanour with a maximum prison term of less than a year.

Meanwhile, another case against the elderly man for breaching lockdown protocol has been forwarded to the court. He was found coming out from an identified ‘red building’ during the last nationwide lockdown.
