The Gelegphu police fished out bodies of a couple from a reservoir tank of a car wash in one of the automobile workshops in the Industrial Service Center at Tashiling Demkhong under Gelegphu Thromde, recently. The incident reportedly happened on the night of 31st December.

CCTV footage captured the couple heading towards the reservoir but didn’t show them returning. The next morning, one of the mechanics at the Industrial Service Center, found the body of the woman afloat in the reservoir. He immediately informed the police.

The body of the husband was discovered after three days, on 3rd January. Police ruled out foul play.

The husband, 30, from the neighbouring Indian town of Jaigoan, was a head-mechanic in one of the automobile workshops in Gelegphu and the wife, 28, was from Norgaygang in Samtse. Meanwhile, the bodies were handed over to the victim’s parents.
