The National Council has accused the Royal Monetary Authority (RMA) for failing to present a complete review pertaining to shortfall of Rupee in the country. The NC’s economic affairs committee members said, the Central Bank failed to provide necessary support even after repetitive requests.
The Chairperson of the economic affairs committee, MP Rinzin Rinzin, said all their efforts to call the RMA’s governor for a meeting and a request for an access to relevant document proved futile. “He never attended any of the meetings.” He said the deputy governor of the RMA had attended the Committee meeting. “He did not come prepared for the meeting,” he said, adding that the Committee was not satisfied with the information provided and the quality of responses received.
The committee had also requested the Central Bank several times, the access to minutes of the Board and Executive Committee meetings since 2007, to understand the decisions and actions taken by the Central Bank. But the RMA had replied that it is not as per norms and practices of the Central Banks to share information
