The legal fraternity, law students and the general public will have easy access to the national laws, rules and regulations, international instruments, and relevant judicial forms with the launch of DrukLaws app, a mobile application by the Office of the Attorney General (OAG).

The new app will be available on IOS in a few days. From over 150 laws to other judicial and legal forms necessary for judicial proceeding, the app expects to provide it all in a very user-friendly manner.

“This is in keeping with the contemporary needs of the justice sector where on a daily basis we need to refer to the laws, the provisions, the sections and also keep appraise with the changing technological innovation that is taking place on a social media sphere, where it will also generate interest from our youth and younger generations,” said Lungten Dubgyur, the Attorney General.

The office also is in the process of strengthening the effective use of ICT as the most prominent tool in rendering effective and efficient legal services to adjust with the new normal situation rendered by the pandemic.

“In the app, there is inbuilt rules and regulations which are in place. And also international instrument where Bhutan has acceded. Thus for those type of compilation was never attempted. So this will be available,” the Attorney General added.

This, they expect will also address rapidly modernising state and to keep pace with the international legal developments and sound practices and to render prompt and effective delivery of legal and judicial services by country’s own justice sector.

If the app proves to be useful, it will also be made available for Android users.
