Six Bhutanese undergraduate scholarship students who studied abroad have excelled in academic and returned in the country with gold medals in the last two and a half years. And to honour and recognise them, the Department of Adult and Higher Education (DAHE) felicitated the students today.
The education minister congratulated the students with Tashi Khadar for their excellent performances.
Jamyang Chophel was awarded the university gold medal for having scored the highest grade in his course. He graduated in BA Journalism and Mass Communication from IMS UNISON University in India in 2014. Currently, he is working in the foreign ministry.
Dawa Wangchuk Gyalpo studied B.Sc.Mathematics at the University of Texas at EL Paso in the USA. He was awarded the Academic and Research Excellence in Mathematics at the undergraduate level in recognition of his academic excellence. He graduated in July this year. He will be working as a lecturer.
Dhendrup Tshering graduated in BA in Psychology, English and Journalism at the Acharya Institute of Graduate Studies in India. He was awarded the Valediction of the Institute and the Best Student in Academic Excellence and Proficiency. At present, he is preparing for the civil service main examination.
Ugyen Wangmo studied B.Sc Honours in Horticulture at Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture Technology and Science in India. The university awarded her gold medal in B.Sc honours in horticulture. She works at the Agriculture Research and Development Centre in Yusipang.
Pem Zam studied B.Sc Forestry in the same university in 2014. She was awarded the gold medal in B.Sc honours in Forestry. She works as a Biodiversity Officer at the National Biodiversity Centre.
At the same time, Ashish Katwal pursued B. Tech Environmental Engineering at the same university and graduated last year. He was awarded the gold medal in B.Tech Environmental Engineering. He is working as an Assistant Environment Officer at the National Environment Commission.
