The electricity supply has been restored in Bardo and Shingkhar Gewogs of Zhemgang yesterday. The power blackout lasted for almost a week.
The continuous heavy rainfall for the past eight days hampered the restoration works. BPC officials said they could not restore the power supply immediately as the electric poles and lines were all through dense forest, and the roads were all blocked.
Meanwhile, people of Womling and gewog officials of Shingkhar volunteered to help restore power supply in the area, which led them to faster restoration of electricity in the areas.
The two gewogs of Upper Kheng resumed the pending gewog administration works, and a gewog official said, “Without constant electricity supply, our gewog functions were all paralyzed.”
