Bhutan and Bangladesh will soon establish a Joint Business Council for the business communities of the two countries to work together, foster friendship and understanding.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish the council was signed between the Bhutan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) and its counterpart, the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry last week in Dhaka.

The MoU was signed between the presidents of the BCCI and the Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

“From the Bhutanese government side, we will ensure we will follow-up through. We will ensure that we will walk the talk and make sure every word we say, every word in black and white will be followed,” Prime Minister Dr Lotay Tshering said.

He also said that such cooperation in the business sector is crucial, as both the countries will graduate from the Least Developed Countries’ category within the next five years as traditional foreign donors start withdrawing their aids.

Meanwhile, after the Joint Business Council is established, there will be annual meetings between the two sides in each country alternatively.

This will facilitate the cooperation of business communities of the two countries in trade, investment, technology and other industrial sectors.
