Bangladeshi community observed its 49th Independence and National Day at the Bangladesh Embassy in Thimphu today.
The celebration began with the hoisting of the Bangladeshi National Flag by the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Bhutan, Jishnu Roy Choudhary.
The Ambassador also read out the Bangladeshi President’s message to the gathering, which had a special mention of the founding father of the nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The day marks the country’s declaration of Independence from Pakistan on March 26, 1971.
Senior government officials attended the celebration.
