Dorokha CS completion delayed by over six months

The construction of Dorokha Central School in Samtse began two years ago and was supposed to be complete by January this year.

The construction of main structures, such as classrooms, hostels, dining hall and staff quarters have been completed, but final touches are still underway.

The contractor, JM Builders Private Limited, said the delay was caused by bad road condition leading to the school.

The road remained unusable for a few months during monsoon in 2016, which the contractor said, hampered timely transportation of materials.

The construction company added the road problem still exists.

It is also blaming erratic power supply as another factor that slowed the work progress.

The 22-acre new school campus has hostels and eighteen classrooms with laboratories and offices for staff.

The Chief Engineer of the construction company said around 95 per cent of the work is complete now. The school is expected to be ready by this October, but the students can move to the new campus only next year.

It’s been a struggle, trying to accommodate over 1,000 students at the old campus.

The school infrastructure has been under mounting pressure with the number of students growing after the school was converted into central school in 2015.
