The 26-year-old worker, injured in the recent gas explosion inside the tunnel of Nyera Amachhu Hydroelectric Project in Martshala Gewog under Samdrup Jongkhar died in the early hours of this morning.
The deceased was undergoing treatment at Down Town Hospital Limited in Guwahati, India.
The medical report says he had suffered about 50-60 per cent burns with septic shock and multiple dysfunction syndrome. The deceased was from Zhemgang Dzongkhag.
The gas explosion also claimed the lives of four others on the day the accident occurred (June 15). They were all workers of Construction Development Corporation Limited.
The corporation is executing the excavation of drift works for the proposed Nyera Amachhu Hydropower Project.
