Issuance of Lag Thrams brings hope to residents of Panbang

It may not long when Panbang- the satellite town or Yenlag Thromde of Zhemgang will be transformed into a bustling town. The National Land Commission issued Lag Thrams or Land Ownership Certificate to 34 residents a few months ago.

People are overwhelmed to receive the Lag Thrams which they have waited for over three decades. They now feel it is time to realise their dreams, which certainly is to construct concrete houses for commercial gains. “Without land certificate ownership, we were unable to construct or renovate houses. We are extremely thankful to His Majesty The King for the thram kidu,” said one of the shopkeepers in Panbang, Nado.

Others also shared same sentiments. “We impatiently waited for Lag thram and uncertain of our future, we once thought we must go back to villages. But now, I changed my mind. We have Lag Thrams and hope to construct commercial buildings here,” said another businessman named Darjay.

Panbang was declared as Dzongkhag Yenlag Thromde in 2015. Today, there are about 50 shops in the town.
