Fire guts 5 houses in Haa

A fire early yesterday morning has left five families in Kibri Village of Uesu Gewog in Haa homeless and bereft.

The fire, which broke out around 2 am yesterday, is said to have started from one of houses. It quickly spread and engulfed four other houses. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported. The firefighters including Dessups managed to control the fire by 7am.

The Officiating Prime Minister Lyonpo Dorji Choden handed over Royal Semso to the affected families. They were also provided with temporary sheds and other disaster relief kits by the dzongkhag.

Of the four traditional houses damaged, four are insured. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
