RBP to start frisking youth upon home ministry’s approval

RBP to start frisking youth upon home ministry’s approval-The Royal Bhutan Police will soon start mass-patrolling and frisking youth, if they are found loitering after 10 PM in a group of more than two. However, the implementation will begin upon the approval of the Ministry of Home and Cultural Affairs.

The Chief of Police, Brigadier Kipchu Namgyel said if youth are caught with weapon and in a group of more than two they will be questioned, frisked, profiled, warned and handed over to parents as a first offense.

“If they are caught second time, they will be arrested, detained and even charge sheeted no matter what happens,” said the Chief of Police.

The Royal Bhutan Police will also submit proposal to the government to ban sale of knives to the youth.

In 2014, 75 cases related to battery and 18 cases of battery and stabbing were reported. In 2015, six cases of battery and battery with stabbing have been reported.
