A 17-year-old girl drowned in Paro, on Sunday. A statement to the police reads, the victim had drowned during her second dive into the water.
The victim, along with three other friends had gone for a swim in a pond near the Paro Airport gate at about 12:30 pm when she drowned.
The pond where the girls had been swimming had been an artificial one created during construction work for a new road.
The Project Engineer, Dorji, said they had been in the process of covering up the pond with soil.
