Assaulters apprehended in Gelephu

TaxiDriverAssultedTwo boys have been detained by the Gelephu police on Saturday for assaulting a taxi driver. Ganja Bahadur Rai, 39, has been discharged from the Gelephu hospital, after receiving treatment for the injuries he sustained during the assault.

On February 11, four young boys had boarded Ganga Bahadur’s taxi from the taxi parking in Gelephu. The suspects wanted them to be dropped off at Fishery area. “They first made me drive to many places. When I told them the fare was Nu.300, they attacked me from the back.” He said had to drive them for more than three hours. “The last thing I remember is getting out of the taxi.”

On the contrary, the statement given to the police by the two boys stated that the taxi driver charged high fare because of which they refused to pay. They claimed that the taxi driver then provoked them into a fight.

This is the first such case to be registered with the Gelephu Police.
