Heavy snowfall last night has caused roadblocks in several parts of the country. About 15 buses are stranded at Dochula, along the Wangdue Phodrang- Thimphu highway. Yotongla and Thrimzhingla Passes along the East-West highway have also been blocked because of the snow.
The Executive Director of Department of Roads in Lingmithang, Monggar, Dorji Gyelsthen, said some 30 labourers have been deployed to clear the snow at Sengor. He said it will not be possible to clear Thrimzhingla Pass today as the snowfall continues.
Given the bad weather, Drukair had to cancel three international flights to Delhi, Singapore and Bangkok yesterday.
