Court sentences four construction workers to a prison term ranging from three to six years for criminal attempt to murder, Tsirang

The Tsirang District Court sentenced four Bhutanese construction workers and a minor to a prison term ranging from three to six years for criminal attempt to murder. The court passed the judgment on Tuesday. According to the judgment, the incident happened in one of the construction sites in Damphu town last year on November 6.

As per the judgment, the convicts visited the victims’ campsite in the evening to take revenge following a brief quarrel one of the workers had with the victims the previous day. The convicts attacked the four victims, who were also Bhutanese construction workers, with kitchen knives but they all escaped with minor injuries.

The youngest perpetrator, who is 17 years old will be sent to the Youth Development and Rehabilitation Centre in Chhukha as per the court’s order.

Meanwhile, all the four victims who sustained minor injuries are reported to have recovered.
