Fourth De-Suung training programme begins

The fourth batch of De-Suung training program began at the Tencholing Military Training Centre, in Wangduephodrang today. One hundred and thirteen volunteers including 31 women are taking part in the training programme.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Minister of Labour and Human Resources, Dorji Wangdi, said De-Sunng the landmark initiative by His Majesty the King. “The training programme will help promote voluntarism among the diverse group of young people. The values, they cultivate and nurture through the training, will serve them and the nation in so many inspiring ways in the years ahead,” said the Lyonpo.

De-Suung’s Chief Programme Coordinator, Tashi Tobgay, said the programme offers a wholesome and inspiring insight into nation building. “It is a value based personal development programme, with an aim of encouraging citizenry to play an active role in nation building.”

During the month long training, the De-Suups will also be given first hand training on search and rescue operations, preservation and conservation of cultural heritage and traditions, and conservation of environment. A series of lectures on various topics will also be organised.
