Tingtibi, a ghost town in Zhemgang is experiencing a facelift because of the upcoming Bhutan Bird Festival, which will be held there from 11th to 13th November.

The thick untended bushes are cleared and about 60 event stalls took the space, streetlights are reinstalled and footpaths are repaved and maintained. Dzongkhag preparation group said almost 99 per cent of the preparations are complete and is now almost ready to host the mega event

Apart from the Tingtibi town, the event has attracted many canopies along the Tingtibi-Zhemgang highway and prayer flags are hoisted along the roads adding more colour to the rejuvenated town. A feast of cultural and biological diversities of Zhemgang is on the plate for the participants of Bird-a-thon  and Cyclothon and other guests.

According to sources, this time, the Dzongkhag preparation group came up with a new concept of using local resources for the preparation of the event venue including the bamboo pavilion for the very important guests, and all stalls are made from the ancient Khengpa intricate design to showcase and minimize cost, except tarpaulin and lightings.

The festival also expects to provide new economic avenues for local businessmen of Zhemgang through various event-based activities and showcase, sale of local products during the three-day event at Tingtibi.

Meanwhile, more tourists and birders are expected to visit the place.
