PM Modi leaves Bhutan

The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi left the country this afternoon at around 3 pm bringing an end to his two-day state visit to Bhutan. He is seen off by Lyonchhen Dr Lotay Tshering at the Paro International Airport.

During his two-day state visit, Prime Minister Modi received an audience with His Majesty The King and His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo.

Prime Minister Modi inaugurated 720 MW Mangdechhu Hydroelectric project and several other initiatives yesterday. Nine Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) were also exchanged between the two countries.

Prime Minister Dr Lotay Tshering met with India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Gyalyong Tshokhang yesterday evening. The two prime ministers exchanged thoughts on strengthening cooperation between two countries and discussed on various topics of mutual benefits.

This morning Prime Minister Modi addressed the students at the Royal University of Bhutan’s convention hall.

Following his address, PM Modi visited the National Memorial Chorten, which was built in memory of the Third King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. He offered khadar and lit butter lamp at the chorten.

This is the second state visit after his first visit in 2014.
