The 5th Royal Bhutan Flower Exhibition (RBFE) in Samdrup Jongkhar saw over 17,000 visitors in seven days. The exhibition ended today.

This year’s exhibition was dedicated to 39th birthday of His Majesty The King.

Besides the gardens, the main venue also displayed local artisanal works and souvenirs, traditional medicine, as well as food stalls.

This year’s exhibition extended beyond the main venue to include the entire Thromde area, with the participation of the local community and businesses.

The flower exhibition has transformed Samdrup Jongkhar town into a beautiful garden with blooming flowers at the doorstep of every building and along the streets. The structures have also been freshly painted.

Gardens developed outside of the Tendrel Thang will be permanent features of the town, as one of the overarching objectives of the exhibition is to bring about a lasting transformation of living spaces.

His Majesty granted over 1,700 saplings for the permanent gardens, while they were being developed in January this year.

With the end of the flower exhibition, Samdrup Jongkhar Thromde said they are now planning to continue maintaining the town.

The RBFE was initiated upon Royal Command in 2015, with the vision of fostering beautiful living spaces and promoting economic activity.
