Annual budget presented in NA

The finance minister, Wangdi Norbu, while presenting the annual budget at the National Assembly today, said the total resources for the financial year 2012-13 is projected at over Nu. 31,000 million. The total resources include domestic revenue of over Nu. 21,000 million and the external grants of over Nu 10,000 million.

40% green tax on luxurious vehicles

The government plans to propose a 40% green tax on luxurious vehicles. Import of vehicle has been identified as one of the highest contributors to the Indian Rupee shortage in the country and to the balance of payments with India which has been worsening.

A decade later and still waiting for Lag Thram

A decade later and some of the settlers in Chuzargang Gewog under Sarpang Dzongkhag still do not have Lag Thram (Land Ownership Certificate). There are about nine households in the gewog without Lag Thram. They were resettled in Chuzargang under resettlement programme.

A new city bus service route

The Road Safety and Transport Authority along with Bhutan Post have come up with a new city bus service route network plan. The Ministry of Information and Communication had directed the two agencies to come with a new route as the earlier route was found to be confusing and inappropriate.

A man dies, another missing in two separate accidents

A 37-year-old man died on the spot in an accident in Ganglakha, about 32 kilometres from Phuentsholing towards Thimphu. The fuel tanker he was driving went off road and fell 120 meters below the road at around 7:30 this morning. The deceased is from Trashigang.
