The Zhemgang District Court decides to refer the alleged embezzlement case involving the Goshing Gup to the High Court to avoid conflict of interest as the same case was prosecuted by the present Zhemgang drangpon while he was in the Office of the Attorney General (OAG).

Goshing Gup Sangay Lethro appealed to the Dzongkhag Court in 2019 after the Panbang Dungkhag Court sentenced him to ten years and three months in prison for embezzling Nu 2.9 M of the public fund from 2011-2015.

According to the Dungkhag Court’s judgement, Goshing Gup Sangay Lethro is convicted with ten counts of embezzlement, solicitation, fraudulent claim and other official misconduct. The Court also ordered him to restitute over Nu 2.9 M.

Meanwhile, the gewog is still without a Gup for nearly three years.
