Two more individuals returning from abroad tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. The cases were detected in two women returning from India and the Middle East. With this, the total number of confirmed cases reaches 84 in the country.
The returnee from India, a 25-year-old woman tested positive for COVID-19 in Gelegphu yesterday. She was in one of the quarantine facilities in Gelegphu after returning from Mumbai in India. She is now moved to the isolation ward in Gelegphu.
Similarly, a 23-year-old woman who returned from the Middle East tested positive for COVID-19. She is in the isolation ward in Thimphu.
With this, there are now eight active cases in the country. Meanwhile, there are a total of 76 recovered cases which includes both recovered and those in de-isolation. With all the cases being imported, the country is still in the orange zone.
Meanwhile, the confirmed COVID-19 cases of Bhutanese abroad still stands at 24 with 20 of them having recovered already.
And about 13 million COVID-19 cases are being reported across the world with the highest in the US followed by Brazil and India.
