The total unresolved irregularities amount to over Nu 600 M according to the Annual Audit Report, which is released today. This is an increase of 48.49 per cent compared to 2017 irregularities of around Nu 400 M.

The unresolved irregularities are unsettled justifications or actions taken by agencies management, which are either inadequate or unacceptable to the Royal Audit Authority (RAA).

Ministry of Agriculture and Forests (MoAF) reported the highest irregularities amounting to over Nu 80 M. This is followed by the Information and Communications Ministry with over Nu 53 M. While the Works and Human settlement ministry reported Nu 52 M irregularities.

Over Nu 262 M, the highest is reported in shortfall, lapses and deficiencies, followed by  Non-compliance to Laws at over Nu 185 M.

The RAA also audited the three hydropower projects. The total unresolved irregularities came over Nu 1.7bn.

The report showed that the Punatshangchu Hydropower Project Authority (PHPA) has the highest irregularities of Nu 1bn followed by PHPA-II with Nu 0.6bn and Mangdechu HPA with Nu 0.1bn.

Over 60 per cent unresolved irregularities in Hydropower projects is due to Non-compliances to laws and rules and the rest due to shortfall, lapses and deficiencies.

To this, the Authority recommended the relevant agencies to ensure construction management, improve service delivery and the need to review proper financial statements.
