Tashichhoeling Dungkhag Court in Samtse has convicted Tendruk Gup, Nima Drukpa, in a gambling case and sentenced him to one month in prison.
The judgment was passed on Wednesday.
The case surfaced after the former Tendruk Gup filed a case against the current Gup, who is also the Chairperson of the Dzongkhag Tshogdu, accusing him of gambling.
The Gup was spotted gambling in a classroom of Kachin Community School with five other men in December last year. The incident is reported to have taken place during the school’s picnic.
The court had also sentenced the other men to two months in prison. All of them, including the Gup, can pay in lieu of their prison term.
