Samdrup Jongkhar town is under complete lockdown for at least three days following the detection of a COVID-19 positive case from the community. A policeman deployed at the police station in the town tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this morning.

More than 350 samples were collected on the first day of the mass screening initiated in the town, yesterday. He was the only person who tested positive.

According to a source, more than 45 police personnel stayed in the police station after a woman tested positive for COVID-19 on May 3 from the RBP colony. With the positive case detected from the force, all police personnel are quarantined. And currently, police from the nearby outpost and DeSuups are patrolling the town. However, reinforcement of some 40 police personnel is expected to reach the town from the headquarter in the next two days.

Meanwhile, health officials are continuing with the mass screening of individual from every household in the town.
