All the nine aspiring Thrompon candidates from Thimphu, Gelegphu and Phuentshogling Thromdes will contest in the general round of the third local Government Elections. However, two Tshogpa candidates from Gelegphu Thromde and one from Thimphu Thromde were disqualified. The office of the returning officers completed the scrutiny of nominations of Thrompon and Tshogpa candidates today.

The only Tshogpa candidate from Trashiling Demkhong in Gelegphu Thromde was disqualified as he has an affiliation with one of the political parties. And the Samdrupling Demkhong’s Tshogpa from Gelegphu Thromde was also disqualified for having a criminal record with the police.

Similarly, the Tshogpa candidate from Mothithang Demkhong under Thimphu Thromde was disqualified as she also has an affiliation with one of the political parties.

Meanwhile, all 12 aspiring Thrompon and Tshogpa candidates from Phuentshogling Thromde will contest in the upcoming elections. Phuentshogling Thromde has six Demkhongs.

The Thromde Elections will be held on the 28th of next month.
