Burglary.Thimphu police have detained a man for burglary. The police have recovered gold, valuable jewellery, and cash in Ngultrum and foreign currencies.

The suspect was arrested last month, in Thimphu. He is a repeated offender.

The suspect had pawned off two silk kiras for Nu. 1,000 on a pan shop-owner. The suspect had collected the kiras, but had not returned the cash. The owner of the shop had then lodged a complaint against the suspect which led to his arrest.

After the arrest, the police were informed about the suspect’s involvement in another burglary. He, however, denied his involvement. He confessed to the crime only after the police found the keys to a car the suspect had bought from the money he had stolen in February.

The stolen gold and jewellery along with cash were recovered from the alto car.

The suspect from Paytari in Punakha denies having any accomplices.
