The 13th century Cha-Gyen Lhakhang under Kazhi Gewog in Wangdue Phodrang is being renovated. With time the monastery has run- down, and is in dire need of renovation.
The Prime Minister Lyonchhoen Jigmi Y. Thinley attended the tendrel ceremony of the renovation in Wangdue Phodrang on Friday. The Prime Minister handed over Nu. 1.5 million on behalf of the government for the renovation works.
The monastery has Sangay Shacha Thuba and Sangay Tong or the throusand Buddhas as its main nangten. The monastery was founded by Dorji Lingpa Je Yeshey Singye in the 13th century.
