Police forward eight cases to court for allegedly breaching lockdown protocols, Paro

Paro Police forwarded eight different cases of alleged breaching of lockdown protocols to the district court today. They will be charged under Section 410 of the Penal Code of Bhutan. 

26 people including three women were charged with allegedly breaching the lockdown protocol in Paro. They were allegedly caught playing archery, playing cards and operating businesses illegally. Some were charged with drinking and crossing their zones during the lockdown.

According to Section 410, a defendant shall be guilty of the offence of criminal nuisance, if the defendant knowingly or recklessly creates or maintains a condition including spreading of a dangerous disease that injures or endangers the safety or health of the public.

They are liable for a minimum prison term of one month to a maximum of a year.

Police will be prosecuting the case.
