In winter, Phuentshogling becomes a bustling city, attracting visitors from all over the country for shopping and leisure. Taking advantage of this opportunity, the Phuentshogling Thromde is organising the ‘Family Night Out’ event this Friday and Saturday. Themed Agri-Tourism and Chhukha Diversity Fest, the event aims to foster social bonds and highlight the richness of the Chhukha district’s eleven gewogs.

According to Thromde officials, Phuentshogling, unlike other towns, faces competition from the nearby Indian market.

To stand out, the Thromde, the Regional Office of Bhutan Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Agricultural Marketing Facilitation Office are collaborating to organise the event.

“To compete with the market in Jaigaon, it’s challenging for us and sustaining can be difficult. Our strategy is to make Phuentshogling distinctive. That is why we are introducing Family Night Out, where families can stroll, enjoying quality time together,” said Uttar Kumar Rai, Phuentshogling Thrompon.

With the road around Zangdopelri and adjoining areas closed to vehicles, the town will showcase products from eleven gewogs and provide diverse cultural experiences.

“It will resemble a village within the city, with products and foods showcased in a village-style presentation. Rather than the typical restaurant settling, we aim to provide a glimpse of authentic village life,” said Kelzang, regional secretary of BCCI Regional Office, Phuentshogling.

“This will be an opportunity to exhibit the products from Chhukha. Also, we can showcase our different cultures and traditions to our friends from India,” said Sangay Thinley, the head of the Agricultural Marketing Facilitation Office.

The officials are planning to make ‘Family Night Out’ a monthly event.
