Lhayuel Village gets new motor-able bridge

People of Lhayuel Village under Chhudzom Gewog in Sarpang District have a reason to smile following the inauguration of a bailey bridge over Thotneykhola stream. 

The Information and Communications Minister, DN Dhungyel inaugurated the 160 ft long bridge on July 1. Since then, it has eased the lives of villagers. They no longer have to risk their lives crossing the stream.

The bailey bridge connects the village with its gewog centre and rest of the gewogs in Sarpang. The Gup of Chhudzom Gewog, Bishnu Prasad Rai is hopeful that the bridge will foster economic growth in the village and uplift livelihoods of the people.

“With this bridge in place, villagers will have efficient and reliable transport system, which will motivate them to engage in more commercial activities.”

The government spent Nu 14.8m to construct the bridge. The load carrying capacity of the bridge is 24 metric tons.
