Angry Indian mobs injure one, damage Bhutanese vehicles

The incident took place yesterday at Rangia in Assam when a Bhutanese jumbo truck hit the Indian vehicles and sped away. The agitated mobs then followed the Bhutanese driver on their motorbikes.

The driver was caught near Tamalpur and  beaten which inflicted him a head injury. The mobs along the way also damaged a few of the Bhutanese vehicles by pelting stones.

“When I reached Tamalpur, two bikers threw stones at us and broke the glass.” recollects a bus driver, Sangay Chophel, ” I heard one Bhutanese vehicle killed an Indian and ran away, and in retaliation they attacked us.” he said.

The jumbo truck driver who was manhandled at Tamalpur, however, is said to be in stable condition after he underwent  treatment in Samdrup Jongkhar hospital.

Meanwhile, police have sent out an advisory to Bhutanese drivers to be cautious and avoid speeding while driving along the Indian highway. Bhutanese have  been asked to follow traffic rules and visit nearest Indian police station in case of any accident.
