In keeping with the age old tradition, His Holiness Gyalse Truelku, for the first time arrived at its winter residence, Chorten Karpo, in Kabesa Gewog in Punakha. This is to revive the age old tradition practiced by Desi Tenzin Rabgye. His Holiness will be staying there for about a month.
On arrival at the Chorten Karpo, His Holiness was received by the Dorji Lopen and the principal of the Tango monastery. He was then escorted to his newly constructed residence. People in the gewog expressed their happiness over His Holiness reviving the age old tradition.
En route to Chorten Karpo, hundreds of devotees lined up along the road to receive blessings from His Holiness.
The Chorten was constructed by Desi Tenzin Rabgye in the 18th century. Since then, the Chorten was used as the Desi’s winter residence and Tango monastery as the summer residence.
The monastery has a Lam, two teachers and 25 monks.
