A teacher critically injured in bus accident

A bus carrying 79 students met with an accident, head-on, with a truck near Bongaigoan in the Indian State of Assam today. Fortunately, there were no casualties.

However, an escort teacher is in critical condition and has been referred to a nearby hospital in Bongaigoan, Assam. Our reporter, Pema Samdrup, says that out of six students injured four have referred to Gelephu regional hospital. The rest escaped unhurt.

The students were on their way back after attending the Youth Enrichment Camp in Gyalpoizhing. Dzongkhag officials led by the Sarpang Dzongdag, Zimpoen Wom, RSTA and other officials immediately rushed to the scene to help expedite the situation.

The accident took place some 100 kilometres away from Gelephu, on the Assam-Bengal highway.
