Khenpos and Lopens learn modern teaching methods

About 30 Khenpos and Lopens of 12 Shedras across the country are attending the workshop on skilled strategies and modern ways of teaching in their classes. Five lecturers from the Paro College of Education are conducting the week-long workshop in Palden Tashicholling Shedra at Phuentsholing.

According to the Programme Co-ordinator of the workshop, Tandin Penjor, such workshop will enhance the teaching methods in Shedras, and help students understand lessons easily.

During the workshop, the participants will learn various teaching skills and strategies. Some of the teaching skills are planning, giving instruction, organiSing learning activities, questioning and use of classroom language.

Our reporter, Singye Dorji, says this is first such workshop being organised in the country. If there are positive results, similar workshops will be organised annually.

There are 15 Shedras in the country listed under the Zhung Dratshang.
