Former customs’ RD knowingly forged documents: OAG

Former customs’ RD knowingly forged documents- OAGOffice of the Attorney General (OAG) said the former Regional Director of Regional Revenue and Customs of Phuentshogling knowingly forged various documents to avail trade licenses and transfer ownership.

OAG submitted its first rebuttal to Phuentshogling Dungkhag Court, today.

Choyzang Tashi has been charged with 15 different counts. He allegedly forged signatures on all related paperwork needed to avail and transfer licenses in 2005.

The former RD has also been charged with two counts on offences related to witness.

Choyzang Tashi’s Lawyer, Ugyen Dorji denied all the charges saying OAG had not fulfilled the required elements that define forgery.

Five others have also been charged for the same case.

Of the five, one is the former Regional Director’s subordinate who has been charged for aiding and abetting.

The other four are Choyzang Tashi’s relatives. They have been charged for giving false information.

The next hearing is scheduled on April 26.
