PM meets Members of EU parliament

Chairperson of European Parliament delegation & members of European Parliament-The Prime Minister, Tshering Tobgay met with Members of the European Parliament Delegation for relations with South Asia led by the Chairperson, Jean Lambert.

The Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the European Parliament, Elmar Brok was also present.

A press release from the Prime Minister’s office say Lyonchhen had wide ranging discussions with the Parliamentarians on various issues including on strengthening relations and cooperation between the Parliaments of Bhutan and the European Union.

Lyonchhen also met the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk. They discussed Bhutan-European Union relations and in particular EU development aid to Bhutan. Lyonchhen thanked the President for the generous assistance extended to Bhutan since 1982.

On the sidelines of the European Development Days, Lyonchhen also met the Prime Minister of Luxembourg, Xavier Bettel during which the two Prime Ministers agreed to strengthen bilateral relations and identified a number of areas for collaboration.

Lyonchhen also held discussions on bilateral relations with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Development Cooperation, Alexander De Croo.

Lyonchhen will be addressing the High Level Panel on Climate Change. He will also be meeting the President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, the Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development, Nevin Mimica and the Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management, Christo Stylianides.
