18 different countries take part in a marathon

International ultra Race Marathon-Punakha.A 200-kilometre marathon kicked-off today from Punakha. Thirty six international runners from 18 different countries, including a runner from Bhutan are taking part in it. The runners will run from Punakha to Paro Taktshang, on the existing trekking routes for six days.International ultra Race Marathon-Punakha

The marathon is being organised mainly to promote sports as well as also to promote sports tourism in Bhutan.

Known as the Ultra Race marathon, it is being organised by Global Limits and hosted by Bhutan Menlha Adventure.

The first race was organised in 2013.
