NC concludes with two important recommendations

14th session of the National Council concludesAs the 14th session of the National Council concluded this afternoon the Chairperson, Dasho Sonam Kinga, called two recommendations adopted by the House as an important resolution of the session.

The two recommendations were calling the government to ensure all public policy decisions to be backed by an Act of Parliament and asking the government to table legislation for Business Opportunity and Information Centre (BOiC).

The House also deliberated and adopted the recommendations of the Special Committee on Mining and Quarrying Sector.

During the month-long session, the House deliberated on bio-safety bill, the parliamentary entitlement bill, tenancy amendment bill and the office of the attorney general amendment bill among others.

Some of the bills to be deliberated during the next session are the election amendment act, the entitlement and service conditions amendment bill for the holders, members and commissioners of the constitutional offices. Reviewing of hydropower, employment and tourism polices are also in the agenda.

The session ended with the offering of Tashi Moenlam and Zhabten for the long life of Their Majesties the Kings and for peace and prosperity of all sentient beings.

The Zhabten is also dedicated to His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo’s 60th birth anniversary.

Meanwhile, The National Assembly will conclude tomorrow.

The House, this session, endorsed local government members entitlement bill, tenancy amendment bill 2014, Bio-safety bill 2014 and narcotic drugs, psychotropic substance abuse bill.
