Tigers and Humans: farmers in Nubi Gewog embrace pasturelands to protect livestock

The number of tigers in the country has increased over the years and so has the human-wildlife conflicts with the predators. However, against the imminent dangers of the big cats to residents and livestock, the Vanishing Treasures Programme has been promoting co-existence with the animals. In Nubi Gewog of Trongsa, the programme has developed pasture lands to foster harmony with tigers. According to the villagers, it has helped mitigate human-wildlife conflict in the gewog.

This story was produced with support from the Bhutan Tiger Centre and GRID-Arendal through the Vanishing Treasures programme.
