Going land degradation neutral

Monggar Dzongkhag in collaboration with the Wengkhar Renewable Natural Resources office, joined the world, to observe the Combat Desertification and Land Degradation day, in their small ways. The day was observed in one of the remote gewogs, Labtsakha under Drepoong Gewog.

Some of the sector heads of the Dzongkhag, and over hundred villagers planted broom grass and Napier seedlings in a hedge row.

The Dzongkhag Tshokdu Chairperson, Pema Dorji, said land management is important for sustainable future. “We must work towards it.” He said land management not only helps improve crop productivity, but also promotes collective management and sustainable utilisation of natural resources like land and water catchment.
