Farmers in Trashigang organised rain rituals, as a desperate measure, to pray for rain yesterday.
They have been facing a drought like situation, after most of their crops have dried up due to lack of rain. Kanglung hadn’t had rain in the last few months. And much their relief and delight, there indeed was a heavy rainfall last night.
Singye Wangchuk, the Panthang lama, leading the ceremony said the ceremony, which involves carrying a Buddhist scripture known as “kanjur” around the village, had been there for more than four hundred years. But it had disappeared many years ago.
