A pilot hospital-based Health Information and Service Centre (HISC) was inaugurated by the Health Minister in Samtse, today. Until now, all HISCs have been located in town areas.
These centres provide HIV and sexually transmitted infections testing facilities. The ministry hopes bringing these centres within the hospital will reach the vulnerable population with a comprehensive package of HIV and STIs prevention services. Such hospital-based centres will be expanded to all 20 districts if the pilot is successful.
